Licensing Overview

If you looking to rent a TeamSpeak Server or are simply using the TeamSpeak client to connect to an existing TeamSpeak Server, you do not need a license.

TeamSpeak licensing is only required for self-hosters or host providers. Below you will find information on the available license types. Please contact our Sales and Licensing team if you have any questions regarding these options.

TeamSpeak is provided free of charge for non-commercial groups or individuals who wish to host their own servers. To use TeamSpeak without a license, simply download and install the TeamSpeak 3 Server - no signup is required. Unlicensed use of TeamSpeak 3 is limited to a single virtual server with up to 32 concurrent users (slots).

Ideal for: Friends & family, small gaming clans/guilds, online study groups, church groups.

Non-Profit License (NPL)

Non-profit licensing is for non-commercial groups or individuals who would be eligible to use TeamSpeak unlicensed, but require more servers or slots than are available without a license. To use a TeamSpeak Non-Profit License (NPL), you will need to register an account and provide your name, contact information, and an active email address which will be used to generate and deliver your license key. To use your license, you simply download and install the TeamSpeak 3 Server and copy your licensekey.dat file into the server directory. A TeamSpeak 3 NPL is limited to a maximum of two virtual servers and up to 512 combined slots. An NPL is issued for a period of six months and is automatically renewed for an additional six months if the license is still in-use.

Ideal for: Large gaming clans/guilds, academic groups, community groups.

Annual Activation License (AAL)

Annual Activation Licenses are for individuals or companies who do not qualify for a NPL and wish to host a TeamSpeak 3 Server. Standard configurations for server and slot counts are available via our sales system, however if you require a larger number of servers or slots, a custom license can be created to suit your needs by contacting our sales team.

Purchasing an AAL is easy and is a completely automated process. Once you register for an account, add the license by choosing Buy NEW License. You will immediately be invoiced. Once the invoice is paid, your license will automatically be provisioned and you will receive your license key via email. Annual Activation licenses are issued for a period of one year, at which point you may renew your license for an additional year.

Ideal for: Commercial entities, military and government agencies, and individuals who do not meet the requirements for a NPL.

Authorized TeamSpeak Hosting Provider (ATHP) License

ATHP licenses are for companies who wish to resell TeamSpeak 3. ATHP licenses are usage-based, and are billed monthly based on the average number of configured slots for servers which are active during the previous month. ATHP licenses are subject to a monthly minimum charge, equivalent to 200 configured slots per month for the first 12 months, and 1000 slots per month thereafter.

To apply for an ATHP license, register for an account and purchase the ATHP Application license. Once your invoice is paid, an email will be sent to you with instructions to submit your application. You will be asked to provide an completed application form, signed license agreement, and copies of your business license and personal identification (depending on business type). Once your documents have been reviewed and approved by our staff, a ATHP license will be issued and will be immediately active. We suggest you only apply when you are ready to start hosting as you will be charged minimum monthly fees even if you are not actively hosting TeamSpeak. ATHP licenses are issued for a period of one year, and are automatically renewed for an additional year if the account is in good-standing.

Ideal for: Game and voice server hosting companies.

Software Development Kit (SDK) License

The TeamSpeak 3 Software Development Kit (SDK) provides a complete integrated solution for online games, virtual worlds, social networks, military simulators, education, or any application where up to thousands of users require crystal clear simultaneous voice communication. In addition to being available for Windows, Linux, macOS, FreeBSD, Android and iOS, support for addition platforms may be available upon request. Licensing costs for the SDK are determined on a case-by-case basis. If you are considering integrating TeamSpeak technology into your existing or future client/server based software, please contact us to discuss your needs. We are confident you will find that our licensing plans are flexible, scalable, and affordable.
